(male announcer) this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now.the hunt for an east bay baseball coach and business owner. accused of molesting one of his players. and secretly filming another. disturbing new details about the charges. plus: police on high alert at a peninsula high school after a threat was posted online. now at six: he taught teenagers to be champions on the baseball field. but this man is a target of a police search because of what they say he did off the field. new details tonight on the disturbing allegations on a coach who mentored and may have molested kids from all over the bay area. kron 4's j-r stone joins us now with new details about the disturbing charges he's facing. j-r? new at five. serious accusations that could cost two oakland city council members their jobs. both elected officials are said to have used their power to influence city business.

this news comes after an oakland city auditor released a report.which details improper behavior from 2009 to 2012. the council members accused there has been charges of sexual penetration of reminder of a drug to minor. hand and for this heed in 2006 and the coached baseball teams in oakland. i spoke with those not leave the schools under scrutiny. it was an administrative thidecision and they have not received any word on problems from parents at this time.

>> new tonight of wrongdoing: desley brooks and larry reid. the audit claims there were 14 instances in which councilmembers or their aids violated the city's charter. among the findings: both are accused of directing staff members to use a specific contractor for the oakland army base demolition project. that contract.worth about 2 million dollars. the audit also alleges that one of reid's aids directed parking officials to fix two of the aid's personal parking tickets. as for brooks: the audit says she interfered in the management and renovation of two oakland recreation centers. including.selecting contractors, negotiating contracts, directing staff to process contracts, setting project deadlines and hiring staff. she's also accused of theratening to remove a city employee from a

project. the report indicates there's a general culture of interference within the city. the auditor says more than 40 employees were interviewed, and thousands of councilmenbers and aid's emails and phone calls were reviewed for this audit. as for potential consequences: the the district attorney's office will review the case and if the council members are convicted in a courtroom.they would immediately lose their jobs. >> catherine: oakland city council member larry reid has sent the city auditor a written response. reid is denying the audit's accusations >> for the record under no circumstances did i at any time influenced the decision of the contractor. >> i was shocked and i believe it is unfounded. i the that people to not want

to ask the toughest questions. i wanted to make sure that it was a fair process that and the local white woman minority-owned business could be able to get this contract. the city staff was trying to award to a non union business. and this is alive and well in the city and even more on the oakland army base. i want to make sure that the oakland playing field is level so every minority business can get a public contract for a city project. >> oakland's city auditor will lay out her case against city council members larry reid and desley brooks. that's coming up on kron4 news at 6 criminal charges have been filed against the woman who lied about being raped on the u-c santa cruz campus. the d-a's office says-- u-c santa barbara student morgan triplett, is charged with giving false information to police. she claimed that she'd been beaten and sexually

assaulted by a stranger on february 17th. she'll be arraigned within the next week in the santa cruz county superior court. >> a pennisula high school had a large police presence today. patrol cars were set up on the perimeter of campus. there were also undercover officers inside the school. this all happened at arragon high school in san mateo. a police spokesperson security was tightened after a student reported a threat posted on a facebook page. >> this threat, specifically was directed towards campus and it was going to be on today's date. march 21st. the police department, the schools, the high school district middle and elementary schools have all been working together, very closely. messaging and to

san francisco's symphony strike moved into its 9th day today ♪ >> catherine: a handful of striking musicians pulled out their instruments and performed in front of davies symphony hall over the lunch hour. while other musicians carried picket signs demanding a fair contract. while san francisco has the third highest paid symphony in the country, musicians say this is also the most expensive place to live. and they need more to be competitive. >> we are not asking for the world just a few crumbs here and there and things are not moving forward. we are very supportive but said it these priorities have been made clear. but these priorities

>> catherine: in southern california. a couple that was tied up by ex-cop fugitive christopher dorner in their condo -- is trying to get the 1.2 million dollar reward for his capture. karen and jim reynolds were tied in their big bear condo by dorner. they believe it was their information alone that led to dorner's capture.

dorner evaded authorities for nearly a week - before apparently killing himself in a burning cabin following a shoot-out. there's been no decision yet on who gets the reward. >> there could be big changes coming to yosemite national park. the park service is considering reducing or eliminating several popular park activities in order to protect wildlife and the ecology of the area. kron 4's charles clifford explains what's happening. >> reporter: this river that runs through the yosemite and the popular yosemite valley. the park service has from working on a long-term plan to protect the land around it. under a possibility they will make substantial cuts to commercial activity along the river. this is a google earth view. rentals and the police skeeting the rink would all be eliminated. this swimming pool but also

be eliminated and horseback riding would come to one and and the pool and bike rentals would also be eliminated. they want to put in more than 161 new campsites and add new parking and reduce congested by improving traffic flow. this would add 200 a. of habitat along the river. finally, this is not a done deal they are accepting public input until april 18th. in the newsroom charles clifford, kron 4 news. >> catherine: alcatraz is marking 50 years - since the prison was closed.. a new exhibit of newly discovered photos opened today. among the visitors -- jim albright -- the last prison guard to leave the rock back in 1963. alcatraz started as a fort and became an army disciplinary barracks. it became a prison in 1934.housing some of america's most notorious gangsters - like al capone and mickey cohen.

alcatraz became a national park-- nine years after its closing. >> developing news right now out of syria. a senior u-s official says that preliminary results show chemical weapons were *not used in an attack in that country earlier this week. the u-s and its allies have been investigating allegations that the syrian rebels carried out a chemical weapons attack in northern aleppo province on tuesday. rebels blame regime forces. despite the preliminary results. officials say they will not rule out the possibility that chemical weapons were used. >> jacqueline: it is warmer today. . the wind will die down for saturday and sunday. breezy but temperatures will be increasing into the 70's.

(male announcer) this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. next. it's been almost 5 years since same sex couples were legally able to marry in california. that quickly came to halt with the passage of prop 8. but two federal courts have ruled the measure unconstitutional, and next week the u.s. supreme court will weigh in, not just on california's ban on same sex marriage, but

>> catherine: the oakland school board will shut down three of california's highest- performing public schools. a state audit of american indian model schools found a number of problems. they include 3.8-million dollars in questionable payments to companies controlled by founder ben chavis and his wife. the board voted yesterday to close the campuses at the end of the academic year. demolition crews have started tearing down the old elevated portion of doyle drive right before the approach to the golden gate bridge. it's been closed to the public since the new tunnel went in last year. crews are breaking up the old asphalt, tearing out rebar and removing the support steel. the work began this week and will continue for several months. eventually new northbound
